Historically, TFC hold a 10W-11L-3T record through their first 24 meetings with the Lions. The two Eastern Conference clubs last met on September 12, when Orlando claimed a 3-0 victory at Inter.co Stadium in Florida. ONE STEP FORWARD
The Reds enter Matchday 30 fresh off a derby triumph that snapped a three-match losing streak on the road between September 12 and 26. Toronto’s most recent away outing before the international break ended in a 2-0 defeat to Nashville SC at GEODIS Park on September 26, as Hany Mukhtar struck twice in the first half for the Supporters’ Shield leaders. Colombian winger Alejandro Piedrahita made his TFC debut off the bench in the 73rd minute, while goalkeeper Luka Gavran earned MLS Team of the Matchday (bench) honours for Matchday 28 after recording a season-high nine saves to keep the Reds in contention in Tennessee.

On October 10, Toronto returned from the international break in dramatic fashion, scoring twice in stoppage time to secure a 2-1 comeback victory over arch-rivals CF Montréal in the 401 Derby at BMO Field. An injury to Luka Gavran forced the hosts into an early goalkeeping change in the 23rd minute, with William Yarbrough entering for his club debut. Montréal took the lead through Daniel Ríos in the 52nd minute before Djordje Mihailovic made his return from injury as a substitute nine minutes later. With the Reds chasing an equalizer late on, Niklas Dorsch delivered a first-time cross from Richie Laryea’s throw-in for substitute Lewis Morgan, who volleyed home with his left foot in the 93rd minute. The goal marked Morgan’s first for Toronto FC, while Dorsch registered his first assist for the club since joining this summer. Toronto completed the turnaround just two minutes later, as Laryea played Theo Corbeanu into space down the right before the winger’s low delivery found Mihailovic, who finished in front of the South End. Nominated for Goal of the Matchday, Mihailovic's 95th minute winner also subsequently secured Energy Moment of the Matchday presented by Celsius honours for Matchday 29. The two stoppage-time strikes, scored in the space of 116 seconds, sealed all three points and extended Toronto’s unbeaten run against Montréal to six consecutive regular season meetings (4W-2T) dating back to May 18, 2024.
MILESTONES BETWEEN THE STICKS
Goalkeeper Luka Gavran started Saturday’s match against CF Montréal between the sticks, making his 50th appearance for Toronto FC across all competitions and becoming the sixth active TFC player to reach the milestone alongside Jonathan Osorio, Richie Laryea, Alonso Coello, Kobe Franklin and Derrick Etienne Jr. The Hamilton, Ontario native was forced off through injury following a collision with former Red Prince Owusu, with William Yarbrough entering the derby off the bench in the 23rd minute. The Mexican-American goalkeeper, who joined the Reds on January 16, 2026, made his first MLS appearance since September 21, 2024, and became the 17th player to debut for TFC this season. The 37-year-old recorded six saves on his club debut, including one in each half to deny Chilean attacker and Designated Player Alexis Sánchez, helping the Reds secure all three points against their arch-rivals.

ONCE A RED
Three MLS SuperDraft selections across the two rosters have represented both Toronto FC and Orlando City SC during their respective MLS careers. TFC defender Richie Laryea began his MLS journey with Orlando City SC after two seasons at the University of Akron. Selected seventh overall by the Lions in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, Laryea made 21 appearances across three seasons (2016-2018) before returning home to join Toronto FC in March 2019. Since then, the Canadian international has made 168 combined appearances for his hometown club, ranking second among active players and joint-sixth in club history.
Orlando City defender Griffin Dorsey was selected sixth overall by Toronto FC in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft out of Indiana University. The Evergreen, Colorado native made five appearances for the Reds, including his debut against Independiente on February 19, 2019, and also spent time with Toronto FC II before being placed on waivers by TFC in May 2021. Dorsey spent five seasons with Houston Dynamo before joining Orlando City in February 2026, where he has recorded three goals and three assists in 21 MLS appearances this season.
Tyrese Spicer was selected first overall by Toronto FC in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft out of Lipscomb University. The Trincity, Trinidad and Tobago native recorded six goals and two assists in 42 combined appearances over two seasons (2024-2025) with the Reds. Spicer made his club debut on March 16, 2024, against New York City FC before scoring his first goal a week later in a 2-0 win over Atlanta United. He joined Orlando City SC in August 2025 via trade and has since recorded seven goals and four assists in 30 MLS appearances for the Lions.
Orlando City have been without Dorsey and Spicer since September 9 and 19, respectively, after the pair sustained injuries during club and international duty in September.
