STATESBORO, Ga. – A stoppage time winner from Charlie Dennis was the difference as Tormenta FC picked up all three points on Saturday night versus Toronto FC 2 at Erk Russell Park. In front of a solid home crowd, Tormenta found themselves down early after Jordan Perruzza struck a sweet left-footed strike to give Toronto a 1-0 advantage. Undeterred, the hosts bounced back quickly through Dennis who leveled things in the 28th-minute, only to see Toronto re-claim the lead just eight minutes later when Patrick Bunk-Andersen thumped home a towering header to restore his team’s advantage.
The second half was controlled by Tormenta FC, however, as Marco Micaletto buried a penalty in the 72nd-minute and Toronto defender Terique Mohammed was sent off moments later for a late challenge. Despite Tormenta owning the lion’s share of possession, things stayed square until Dennis once again brought the home fans to their feet three minutes in to stoppage time, slotting past Toronto goalkeeper Kevin Silva to give Tormenta FC the victory and secure their second-place position in the League One standings.
