CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Set pieces proved useful as Chattanooga Red Wolves SC and Toronto FC II traded blows in a back-and-forth 2-2 draw Saturday night at David Stanton Field. Chattanooga struck first as Connor Doyle connected with Vangjel Zguro’s inswinging corner kick to put the hosts in front just before halftime. TFC II continued to battle following the opening goal and drew themselves level in the 69th minute after a set piece of their own.
The Red Wolves failed to fully clear a long service into the box from a corner kick and as the ball bounced around the penalty area, Shaan Hundal pounced on it and vollied home to equalize. Hundal was involved again as Toronto pulled themselves in front four minutes later. The midfielder played Luca Petrasso in down the right flank. Petrasso beat his man to the endline and served a low, driven cross to a wide open Jacob Shaffelburg on the back post, who easily tucked it away.
As the Red Wolves appeared to be staring down a home defeat, veteran defender Colin Falvey nodded home a Zguro serve from a corner kick, rescuing a point for Chattanooga. The draw keeps TFC II in third place in the standings and moves Chattanooga up to sixth heading into Week 11.
