Toronto FC II (11W-12L-4T, 39 points) came up short in a 3-1 road loss against Orlando City B (11W-9L-7T, 44 points) on Sunday evening at Osceola Heritage Park in Florida.
Toronto FC II Head Coach Gianni Cimini made a sole change from his side’s 4-2 victory against Columbus Crew 2 on Tuesday with Lucas Dawson coming into the starting eleven for Daniel Stampatori.
After an evenly contested opening 25 minutes, Orlando City B broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when Issah Haruna slipped a through ball into the box for Ignacio Gómez, who calmly finished to put the hosts in front.
The Lions doubled their advantage 15 minutes later when Gustavo Caraballo picked up a short pass from Harvey Sarajian in his own half before a long run was capped off with a left-footed finesse effort from outside the box.
The hosts extended their lead in the 58th minute, when Issah Haruna found Harvey Sarajian in space on the left flank, who drove into the box before drilling a low shot to make it 3-0.
Toronto FC II pushed for a response throughout the second half and came close through Jahmarie Nolan, Marko Stojadinovic and Damar Dixon, but Orlando City B goalkeeper Tristan Himes was on hand to make a series of important saves and preserve the hosts’ three-goal advantage.
TFC II were awarded a penalty in the 84th minute when Orlando City B captain Tristan Himes brought down substitute Dékwon Barrow inside the box. Substitute Elias Khodri stepped up from 12 yards and calmly picked out the bottom-right corner to reduce the deficit the visitors’ deficit to two.
The 85th minute spot-kick marked Khodri’s sixth goal of the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro campaign.
The Young Reds’ push for a late second-half comeback ultimately fell short as Orlando City B held on for a 3-1 victory in the Sunshine State, a result that officially ended the Young Reds’ postseason hopes for the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season.
Toronto FC II return home next for their 2026 MLS NEXT Pro regular season finale, hosting New England Revolution II on Decision Day on Sunday, September 20. Kick-off from York Lions Stadium in Toronto, Ontario is set for 2:00 p.m. ET and will be available to watch globally on MLSNEXTPro.com and OneFootball.
