Toronto FC midfielder Jonathan Osorio and defender Richie Laryea have been named to the Canadian Men's National Team (CANMNT) 26-man roster for FIFA World Cup 2026™, Canada Soccer announced today as part of a live full roster reveal.
Canada is set to compete in the FIFA World Cup™ for the third time in the nation’s history and in back-to-back tournaments for the first time following their qualification for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. The full 26-man roster, including Osorio and Laryea, will take part in pre-tournament send-off matches against Uzbekistan in Edmonton on June 1 and the Republic of Ireland in Montréal on June 5. Les Rouges were drawn into Group B during the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Final Draw on December 5, 2025. Jesse Marsch’s squad kicks off their campaign against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium on June 12 before facing Qatar on June 18 and Switzerland on June 24, with both matches taking place at Vancouver Stadium.
This marks the second consecutive call-up for Osorio and Laryea to a FIFA World Cup, after both played in all three matches for Canada during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. Osorio recorded 121 total minutes, appearing as a substitute against Belgium and Croatia before earning the start against Morocco, while Laryea logged 162 total minutes with starts against Belgium and Croatia before coming off the bench against Morocco.
Osorio, 33, has earned 89 caps for the CANMNT, recording nine goals and eight assists since making his senior debut against Costa Rica on May 28, 2013. The Toronto, Ontario native has represented Canada at six Concacaf Gold Cups (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023), FIFA World Cup™ Qualifiers (2021-22), Concacaf Nations League Finals (2023) and Copa América (2024). Currently in his 14th season with Toronto FC, the central midfielder has served as captain of his hometown club since the 2024 Major League Soccer season. Osorio leads the Reds in all-time appearances (410) and ranks third on the club’s all-time scoring list with 69 goals.
Laryea, 31, has earned 73 caps for Canada since making his senior debut against Cuba on September 7, 2019. The Toronto, Ontario native has represented CANMNT at three Concacaf Gold Cups (2021, 2023, 2025), FIFA World Cup™ Qualifiers (2021-22), the Concacaf Nations League Finals (2023) and Copa América (2024). Currently in his third stint with TFC, the defender has made 155 combined appearances for his hometown club, ranking eighth on the club’s all-time appearances list.
The FIFA World Cup 2026TM begins on Thursday, June 11 and will run through Sunday, July 19, with all 48 matches taking place across Canada, United States and Mexico.
