Toronto FC Academy U-16 and U-15 teams are set to compete at the largest youth soccer tournament, Generation adidas (GA) Cup from Friday, March 27 to Sunday, April 4, at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The 2026 GA Cup will feature 80 teams evenly split across the U-16 and U-15 age groups, including 18 international clubs from 14 different countries and four continents. This year, GA Cup will also host an expanded Girls Division following the inaugural introduction to the girls competition from the 2025 tournament.

“Every year we are excited to attend the Generation adidas Cup, which has quickly evolved into one of the top youth soccer tournaments in the world,” said Toronto FC Academy Director Anthony Capotosto. “The event provides a great opportunity for our players to compete at the highest level over a series of high intensity games against both MLS and international opponents. Major League Soccer has done a fantastic job putting this year’s event together that will be a valuable experience for everyone involved. We look forward to continuing the development of our Academy players through the competition platform that GA Cup has to offer.”

The tournament draw took place on Thursday, March 12, with MLS academies placed into division-based buckets, while international clubs were drawn at random. TFC’s U-15 team was placed in Group B alongside LA Galaxy, FC Dallas and Germany’s most successful club, FC Bayern München. TFC’s U-16 team were drawn into Group I with St. Louis CITY FC, Austin FC and historic South Korean club, Busan IPark FC.

Toronto FC’s U-15 team will open group play on Friday, March 27 against FC Dallas at 12:00 p.m. ET, followed by a match against LA Galaxy on Saturday, March 28 with a scheduled start time of 11:30 a.m. ET. The team will close out group play against top German club, FC Bayern München at 12:00 p.m. ET, which will be livestreamed on the MLS YouTube page. TFC’s U-15 midfielder, Jayden Awitor was most recently named to the 2026 Generation adidas Cup Rising XI presented by adidas, which highlights eleven different players to watch at the tournament.

TFC Academy’s U-16 team kick off the tournament against St. Louis CITY FC on Friday, March 27 before facing international competition, Busan IPark FC the next day, Saturday, March 28, with both games scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. ET. The U-16’s will then face Austin FC on Sunday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. ET to close out group play.

“Competing in an international tournament is an important step in the development of our players and our program,” said Toronto FC Manager of Player Development Ashtone Morgan. “These environments challenge our team to perform under pressure, adapt to different styles of play and measure ourselves against some of the top academies in the world. For us, it’s not only about results, it’s about growth, learning and continuing to raise the standards of what it means to be a Toronto FC player. Opportunities like this accelerate the development of our players on and off the field, which is a key part of our long-term pathway.”

Each team is guaranteed to play six 60-minute matches, comprised of two 30-minute halves. In each age group and after group play, 16 teams – the 10 group winners and the top six second place-finishers – will advance to the Championship bracket. The next-best 16 teams will enter the Premier bracket, with the final eight teams competing in the consolation groups. There will be no ties and at the end of regulation the game will go directly into a penalty shootout. Twenty matches will be live streamed on the MLS YouTube page, including all championship bracket matches in both age groups.
