TFC Academy's U-15 and U-17 squads advance to Championship and Premier Brackets at GA Cup

Toronto FC Academy’s U-15 team wrapped up group stage action at the 2024 Generation adidas (GA) Cup, advancing to the single-elimination Championship bracket in their respective age group. The single-elimination Championship bracket consists of the 10 group winners and the next best six, second-place finishers.

The U-15 squad rounded out group play with an overall record of 1W-1L-1T and placed second in its bracket with five points, as LA Galaxy topped the group with seven points. The team’s efforts earned them a spot among the top six second-place finishers and a chance to battle for the championship title. The U-15s are scheduled to play Sporting Clube de Portugal, who topped its group, on Thursday, April 4 at 12:00 p.m. ET in the Round of 16. The winner between TFC and Sporting CP will face the winner of St. Louis CITY SC (MLS) and English Premier League side Arsenal FC in the quarterfinals.

The U-17 squad, competing in Group I, went 1W-1L-1T in group play and entered the Premier bracket after finishing third in their group. The team recorded five points from their opening three games, level on points with Club Nexaca, who defeated TFC Academy in the head-to-head match, 3-4. Among TFC’s group bracket, only FC Dallas advanced to compete in the Championship playoffs. TFC’s U-17 team will face Austin FC in the first round of the Premier playoffs on Thursday, April 4 with kick-off set for 4:30 p.m. ET. A full tournament schedule can be found here.
