A come from behind victory saw the Young Reds close out their 2016 home schedule on a high note. Shaan Hundal and Ricardo John would both find the back of the Lions net to lead the Reds to victory.
Toronto FC II did not get off to the start they wanted as Canadian forward Michael Cox was able to get some space in the box and fire his shot off the post and past keeper Quillan Roberts.
The Young Reds would answer in the 28th minute after Liam Fraser played a cross into the box for Shaan Hundal. The Lions keeper stopped his first attempt but Hundal was able to pounce on the rebound to tally his sixth of the season.

Shortly after the beginning of the second half, the Young Reds would find the back of the Lions net again. Second half substitute Raheem Edwards sent a cross from inside the box for Ricardo John who headed home his third of the season.

TFC keeper Quillan Roberts, who was on loan for the match, would make two massive back-to-back saves to keep the Young Reds in front. “I thought Q was solid tonight for not been playing a game for over 2 and a half months … that's not easy and he made a couple of big saves towards the end of the game to preserve the win,” added head coach Jason Bent.
The win snapped a 5 game losing streak for the Reds, which had started with a loss in Orlando. The Reds got a little revenge on Sunday as the loss will keep Orlando just 2 points up for the final playoff position in the Eastern conference.
In addition, TFC’s Clemont Simonin played the full 90 minutes for the first time since March of 2015.
The match also saw the debut of recently signed forward Ben Spencer. The New Mexico native played 14 minutes in his first competitive action in over a year. “A lot of different emotions mostly excited. Just happy to be back out playing after being out for so long, It was a rewarding experience,” said Spencer.
The Young Reds are back in action on Saturday September 24 when they travel to Rochester to take on the Rhinos. Kickoff is set for 5:05 PM. Follow along here at tfc2.ca.
