Toronto FC (6W-7L-11T, 29 points) extended their unbeaten run to seven matches with a dramatic come-from-behind 2-1 victory against Supporters’ Shield-leading Nashville SC (16W-3L-5T, 53 points) on Wednesday evening, courtesy of second-half goals from Dániel Sallói and Emilio Aristizábal at BMO Field.
Toronto FC Head Coach Robin Fraser made four changes from Saturday’s side that started in the 4-4 draw against Chicago Fire with Jackson Gilman, Niklas Dorsch, Lewis Morgan and Derrick Etienne Jr. coming in for Matheus Pereira, Markus Cimermancic, Theo Corbeanu and Djordje Mihailovic.
Nashville took an early lead through an own goal from Niklas Dorsch in the fourth minute.
TFC goalkeeper Luka Gavran came up big to keep the deficit at one through the opening half, making a pair of important saves to deny Elias Saad in the opening 45 minutes and keep the Reds within striking distance.
The hosts threatened at the other end late in the half, with Josh Sargent coming closest to an equalizer as he flashed a pair of chances wide in the final eight minutes before the break.
Nashville SC found the net soon after the restart through Hany Mukhtar’s 49th-minute header, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside against Reed Baker-Whiting in the build-up.
The Reds’ continued pressure finally produced a breakthrough when Derrick Etienne Jr. picked out Theo Corbeanu in space down the right flank. Corbeanu drove past his defender before delivering a pinpoint cross for Dániel Sallói to head home beyond Nashville goalkeeper Brian Schwake.
The 72nd minute equalizer marked Corbeanu’s fifth MLS assist for TFC and a team-leading 15th goal contribution for Sallói (seven goals, eight assists), with the Hungarian winger extending his streak of recording a goal involvement to six consecutive MLS matches.
Pushing for a late winner, Toronto FC struck in stoppage time when Dániel Sallói controlled Richie Laryea’s cross inside the box before substitute Emilio Aristizábal fired home from close range to give the Reds a late lead.
The 93rd minute goal marked Aristizábal’s fourth of the 2026 MLS season and Laryea’s 20th MLS assist for TFC.
The dramatic second-half comeback ultimately secured three important points at home for the hosts, extending the Reds’ unbeaten run to seven matches dating back to July 31, 2026.
