TORONTO - What a way to open up the new digs. TFC II stormed back to steal a point off first place FC Cincinnati in their inaugural match at Lamport Stadium.
The game was a tale of two halves. The East leaders controlled the first jumping out to the early lead on a cool Nazim Albadawi finish.
TFC II battled back to equalize as Ayo Akinola got up to a Dante Campbell cross to knot the match up at ones. It was Akinola’s third goal in as many games.
However, FC Cincinnati took control near the end of the half and scored twice in quick succession. Mississauga native and former TFC draft pick Emery Welshman got the first and team scoring leader Emmanuel Ledesma scored a beauty for the second.
The Reds went into the break down two. After an uneventful beginning to the second half the Reds found their grove offensively.
In the 70th minute Robert Boskovic scored his first USL goal to pull the Reds back within one. The defender rose up to head home a perfectly delivered dead ball from substitute Ryan Telfer.
It was all TFC II after that. The Reds continued to press, and they found their equalizer in the 75th as Jordan Hamilton scored a screamer with an athletic finish to burry a Steffen Yeates cross.
The Reds had all the momentum for the remainder of the game and came within inches of stealing all three points as a Hamilton header glanced the post off a corner kick.
Toronto FC II return to action this Sunday when they host the Charletson Battery as part of a Canada Day double header at BMO Field. Kickoff for the TFC II game is set for 8:00 PM.
